DOG BACKPACKS:
Hiking with your dog is a wonderful experience that increases the companionship and pleasure of backpacking or hiking. By using your dog's weight carrying ability, you can carry those extra items on your hike and have the enjoyment of man's best friend. Most any dog that is in good health, fed a well balanced diet, can carry 30% of their body weight. The basic equipment needed is; 6 to 8 foot leash, collar, and a good quality dog pack. The pack must fit properly. If possible take your dog with you when you purchase a pack to assure a good fit. The pack has two compartments for the items to be carried, and this section attaches onto a padded section that is fitted onto the dog. Wenaha makes a durable two-piece pack that is suitable for day hikes or overnighters.
