Tahluu Kennel Goals:

siberian huskys

Felony - Sophie
Our standard at Tahluu is to maintain the wonderful characteristics of working sled dogs, through quality breeding. We feel very strongly that the original function and workability of the breed must be preserved as well as the beauty.

We are members of local, regional and national Siberian Husky clubs and have been actively showing and training for over eighteen years. Our dogs are a very important part of our family so many of our activities are centered around them. In the winter months we like to do recreational dog sledding and skijoring. In the warmer months we like to do dog backpacking.

We are very willing to answer questions you may have about Siberians, so drop us a line and we will answer. You can also visit The Siberian Husky Club of America - SHCA - site for breed history and general information.

1. TEMPERAMENT: The Siberian Husky is friendly and gentle, but also alert and outgoing. A good temperament is extremely important when looking for a family pet or a show prospect. At Tahluu, we take great pride in the fact that our adult dogs have passed the AKC Canine Good Citizenship test. We start socializing our puppies from the day they are born with lots of loving handling. Socialization coupled with good temperament will help to ensure that your Siberian will be a cherished member of your family. Families seeking a Siberian puppy to be integrated into their home as a lifelong, people-oriented companion, should consider the social environment of the first weeks of life of the puppy as very important to their later adjustment and confidence level.

2. MOVEMENT: The Siberian Husky has to be more than just a pretty face. He has to be put together properly for that "characteristic smooth and seemingly effortless gait". We love to have fun with our dogs whether its sledding, skijoring, backpacking, bike riding, swimming, or just walking. When he is built properly, he will be able to lead a healthy, active life with ease.

3. SOCIALIZATION: A dog must be exposed to the widest variety of outside experiences at the earliest possible age to help them development mentally. This is the socialization process. This stimulization helps them develop confidence and mental stability. We start socializing our puppies from the day they are born with lots of loving handling. It is a gradual process with lots of human interaction, love, guidance and challenging things to do each day. Many of the problem behaviors some dogs exhibit are the result of under-socialization. With some effort and planning, this can be prevented. This is a area of great interest to us at Tahluu. For more information on Socialization, please contact us.
